In FY08, nearly 200 volunteers secured 2,500 pledges for the Harvard College Fund. In addition to their hard work at the phonathons, our many dedicated participation volunteers and others from across the classes helped us pilot two programs – class-specific fundraising web pages and a virtual phonathon. Nearly 70 volunteers from the classes of 1948 through 2007 attended class web page launch events in Cambridge and New York, where they had their pictures taken and wrote testimonials to populate these pages with content. To augment phoning efforts, volunteers emailed these pages to classmates who had not yet made an annual gift. Over 100 volunteers signed up to use the virtual phonathon system – spanning the classes of 1938 through 2007 – with many joining us for the second year in a row. Through their efforts, the College secured updated contact information and 48 pledges. The Fund looks forward to developing further remote calling capabilities with the findings and feedback from this year’s virtual phoning effort. © 2008 President and Fellows
